Finding Inspiration
Look around. Do you see the inspiration? It’s right there, in front of you.
Sometimes I lose sight of this, and dive into the struggle of searching for the perfect spark, overlooking all the other sparks that are going off around me. This can describe my state for the last couple of weeks, searching, searching for the next perfect inspiration.
I got to journaling yesterday, and found that I was indeed excited about a spark I’d previously had, but put on the back burner because I was searching for the better one. Silly me. As I wrote about my desire for clear, flowing inspiration, I found myself tapping into this previous inspiration. As I continued to write about it, I realized that I was excited and motivated to take it beyond a thought and feeling, and into reality.
Once I had embodied this excitement, supporting inspirations began showing up in abundance. I attended an organized “dumpster dive” with a quirky, full of ideas, artist friend. While the materials found were mostly high end interior designer fabrics and samples, the patterns and textures that adorn them were just the source material that I had been looking for when the idea first hit!
Holy Universe! It’s just amazing how the inspiration began hitting me over the head, and guiding me to follow this path of exploration. Today, my doubt has been replaced with clear, free flowing ideas and an action plan to move the project forward. How cool is that!?
Truly, the inspiration is right there in front of us, everyday. We just need to allow ourselves to see it clearly. How about you? Where do you find yours? Leave your comments here:

It’s interesting, isn’t it…how much the left brain wants to overthink things? We can’t really blame it. It’s major job is to do the detail thinking for us!
But here’s the scoop: Inspiration, intuition and divine guidance come to us through our right brain. We can’t hear the right brain, though, when the left brain is chattering along. This is why meditation is so essential. The process of meditating actually helps rewire the brain to be less reactive, quiets the left brain, and integrates both halves.
Some artists keep an inspiration journal so that they can track all their ideas and pull up one to focus on when they are ready to create. Are you doing that, too? If so, you can flip through the journal and pick the ones that speak to you.
