Dear Art Lover,

A reminder about two upcoming East/West Art Events.

The Eye’s Mind: Art through the Lenticular Lens, April 29 - May 30

The Attleboro Museum Center for the Arts presents an exhibit of the works of leading lenticular artists, organized by Dore Van Dyke and Vivian Pratt and featuring Lyn Bishop, Robert Kieronski, Dorothy Krause, Bonny Lhotka, Vivian Pratt, Rufus Seder, Carl Sesto and Karin Schminke. The show is part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival and showcases lenticular framed prints, glass-tiled murals, and lenticular images combined with other media. This technology has only recently become easily accessible to the digital artist and provides a means for printed images to appear three-dimensional (hologram-like), to morph or to animate as the viewer moves. This brings a depth and complexity to the imagery as the artists explore such diverse topics as time, space, light, memory, aging, and the natural world.

The Second Boston Cyberarts Festival highlights artists working with new technologies in all media and includes exhibits, performances, screenings, lectures and symposia at sites all around the Boston area as well as on the web.

I’ll be making a visit to the show on Wednesday May 9th. Contact me if you’d like to get together.

April 29 - May 30, 10-5pm T-Sat. (Wed. open til 8), 12-4pm Sun.
Opening April 29 2-4pm. Free!
Handicapped Accessible.

Silicon Valley Open Studios, April 28 and 29

The community is invited to view my work during this year’s Silicon Valley Open Studios the weekend of April 28 and 29. My studio at 928 Mackenzie Drive, Sunnyvale will be open to the public both days from 10am to 6pm.

New images include prints inspired by Feng Shui principles and famous writing on wisdom. In addition, I will be showing the cutting-edge 3D lenticular pieces mentioned above for the first time on the west coast.

Using a combination of traditional photography, paint, brushes and computer techniques I produce images that embody the spirit of diverse cultures. I hope you’ll come by and see the show!

An assistant or a summer intern to help me organize my art life. Someone who is energetic and fun, with good organizational and administrative skills. If you know of anyone who fits the bill, let me know.

EAST: For more Boston Cyberart, check out Helen Golden’s work in the group show "The 3rd Dimension in Prints". April 14-June 24. Gallery hours: 11-5 Tues-Sat; 12-4 Sun. Brush Art Gallery, 256 Market Street, Lowell, MA.

WEST: Need more of Open Studios--consider visiting Lejeune, Tapscott and Mostovoy. Lejeune and Tapscott are both digital artist who incorporate photographic elements into their work. Beth Mostovoy is a traditional photographer who captures the essence of nature. Check for their locations.
